Sumera has been deeply engaged with the local arts community through her role as one of the directors of the board at Union Gallery, her presence at the Tett Centre’s Creativity Studio Space, participation in exhibitions, curatorial and jury roles, and the 2024 Twofold Residency with Union Gallery and Modern Fuel. She is the founder of the Urban Sketchers Hub, a group that gathers regularly to sketch together at local spots around Kingston.

She is well known for leading creative programs in the community including the Kingston Senior Centre. In 2024, she was awarded multiple grants by the Ontario Arts Council. Through her work, Sumera remains committed to connecting people through the meaningful stories embedded in everyday life.
